Allow Booking through Rescheduled Link

In Cal ID, the Allow booking through reschedule link feature provides a safety net for your scheduling process. It ensures that if a meeting is cancelled, the guest can still use that original link to create a completely new appointment rather than being met with an "invalid link" error.

Why use "Allow booking through reschedule link"?

  • Recover Cancelled Leads: If a guest cancels a meeting, they may still intend to book with you later. This setting keeps the door open by allowing them to re-enter the booking flow through their existing notification.
  • Reduce Friction: Instead of the guest having to navigate back to your website or find your general booking link, they can simply click the "Reschedule" button in their previous cancellation email to start a new booking.
  • Maintain Thread Continuity: It allows you to track a guest's journey even if their initial appointment didn't work out, as the new booking is often linked to the original interaction.

How to set it up

  1. Log in to your Cal ID account.
  2. Go to Event Types tab in the left sidebar and select the specific event you wish to modify.
  3. Navigate to Advanced: Click on the Advanced tab in the top navigation bar.
  4. Toggle the Setting: Scroll toward the bottom of the page to find Allow booking through reschedule link.
  5. Enable: Switch the toggle to ON.
  6. Save: Click the blue Save button at the top right to apply the changes.

How it Works for the Booker

  • Standard Behavior (Disabled): Typically, once a booking is cancelled, the reschedule link associated with that specific meeting ID expires and becomes unusable.
  • Enhanced Behavior (Enabled): When a user clicks a reschedule link for a meeting that was already cancelled, Cal ID recognizes the intent and allows them to create a new booking for that same event type.
  • Seamless Transition: The guest is taken directly to your current availability calendar, making it easy for them to try again.

Important Note

This feature is different from Allow rescheduling past events. While "Past Events" focuses on meetings that actually occurred (or were no-shows), "Allow booking through reschedule link" focuses specifically on meetings that were officially cancelled. For the most flexible guest experience, many users choose to enable both settings.
