Create a Phone-only Event Type
In Cal ID, you can quickly transition to a phone-first scheduling workflow by adjusting your event settings to prioritize mobile contact. This allows you to define what information your booker must provide to receive their meeting confirmations.
By selecting the phone option within your booking settings, you shift the primary contact requirement from email to a phone number, making it ideal for SMS-based workflows.
- Navigate to your Event Types and click Edit on the event you want to modify.
- Go to the Booking questions section, which allows you to customize the information asked on the booking page.
- Locate the Confirmation header, which defines what your booker should provide to receive confirmations.
- On the right-hand side of this section, you will see a toggle button with Email and Phone icons.

- Click the Phone button: This selects the phone number as the primary identifier for the booking.
- Once selected, then the Phone Number question is set to Required field.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
- Primary Requirement: The Phone Number field becomes the mandatory input for guests to complete their booking.
- Automatic Formatting: The phone field includes a country code selector to ensure international numbers are captured correctly.

When you select the Phone option in the confirmation section, it indicates that meeting details will be sent via SMS rather than a traditional email. This is perfect for high-touch services where clients are more likely to check their text messages than their inbox.
